2016 Awards

I am thrilled to announce that 2016 brought forth three awards for Ares Photography. In late summer, I submitted four photographs to the Association of Marketing and Communications Professionals organization’s MarCom Awards entry in portrait photography.

The foundation for AMCP began in 1995 as a means to honor outstanding achievement and service to the communication profession…The goal of the group was to provide an inexpensive, independent competition on an international level that would be fair, respected and open to everyone.”

I first found out about these organizations when I worked as a marketing and communications professional (before I started my photography business). I earned a few honors, but I never quite reached the highest status, which is a Platinum Award.

This year I was so incredibly thrilled to learn I not only earned an honorable mention and a Gold Award, but I found myself as a platinum award winner. Seeing my name and company listed alongside massive organizations, such as Nationwide Insurance, made me realize that photography is something I have excelled at (above anything else).

Special thanks go to my customers and friends who helped me kickstart this really amazing adventure!

Judges are industry professionals who look for companies and individuals whose talents exceed a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry. Irish Pubs Web Shoots – 11/16

My husband’s rugby buddy, Brendan of Premier A/V, is a really talented tech guy, and he reached out to me to find out if I’d be interested in doing several photo shoots at four local pubs, as he’s redesigning their websites. I jumped at the chance because of the great opportunity, plus I’ve been a patron at several of these locations! The ambiance at all the sister bars was lively, and the food looked and tasted amazing. I highly recommend checking these pubs out if you’re ever in Denver! (The links are to the old websites, as they’re still being re-designed.)

McLoughlin’s – 2100 16th St. | Ste. 145 | Denver, CO | 80202

The Irish Snug – 1201 E. Colfax Ave. Ste. 100 | Denver, CO | 80218

Slattery’s – 5364 Greenwood Plaza Blvd. | Greenwood Village, CO | 80111

Maggie Smith’s – 6631 S. Peoria St. | Centennial, CO | 80111

The Buss’ – 11/20/16

Robert and I worked at the same company before I set off on my new venture (photography), and I was excited to find out he came across my business on facebook a number of months after my departure! Robert, Cara and their two cute kiddos, Crosby and Keaton, met me at a fun spot just outside of Conifer, Colorado. They were such troopers! It snowed a few days before, so it was kind of muddy and soggy, but they didn’t mind. I think their willingness to go with the flow was well worth it, as the photos turned out fabulous! We even got some fun snowy photos even though the temperature started pushing 70 degrees as we finished up.

Sara did a great job as our photographer. The turnaround from photo shoot to having images available to view was very minimal, which made the whole experience great. I would recommend Sara to anyone looking to have photos take either as a family or to have an event memorialized through photography.”

The Eckstein’s – 11/19/16

Carrie, Max and I all play for the Denver Bulldogs Australian Football Rules Club–Max plays for the men’s dynasty, and Carrie and I play for the women’s dynasty (six straight national championships!). When Carrie reached out to me to see if I wanted to do their family photos for this year, I was ecstatic. They’re such a nice family. Plus they’ve got the cutest little girl, Burke, who is just over 2.5 years old now.

They recently purchased a home in Evergreen, Colorado, and Carrie wanted to do snow photos this year. Of course 2016 almost set a record for the longest time without snow in the metro area, and we jumped on the chance as soon as we saw snow in the forecast. I met them at their AMAZING property, which spans tens of acres with pretty trees, prairie grasses and scenic views.

The Eckstein’s were very open minded and didn’t mind hiking around in the snow, which–by the way–was some of the prettiest snow I’ve ever seen. It literally looked like glitter!

Sara nailed it. I didn’t say anything other than, ‘snow,’ and she did the rest. Thank you!”
